What is spontaneous abortion?
A spontaneous abortion is the natural loss of the pregnancy, also known as a miscarriage. Spontaneous abortions are common and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), estimate that 10-25% of all clinically recognized pregnancies naturally end in a miscarriage, usually in the first trimester. If you think your miscarriage is the result of poor health, seek the aid of a physician or medical professional, as there is great risk associated with being in poor health and becoming pregnant (not the least of which is increased incidence of miscarriages.)
